Thanks, Angel, for your thoughtful comments — I agree that the parody and slapstick of some recent Disney films are not ideal. I much prefer the style of the earlier films, and it’s nice to see glimmers of it here in Tinker Bell.

thanks for the review. in some points i may disagree with your points.
I am working as a cgi artist myself for the gameindustry since years now and first letme remind you the target audience was supposed to be 6-9 years old girls. wich also may justify the lack of complicated storytelling. the “magic” of this movie worked well for me, i felt sucked back into my childhooddays watching it – it had the sweetness of old classic disneys.
after lionking, or maybe even earlier, there was just too much slapstick for my taste placed in them, parodies wich felt in many cases just wrong.

animationwise, disney always set the state of the art and there’s been scenes like the flight to mainland and the whole growing of things wich were a firework of cgi art. i loved the sets, characterdesign- and animationwise, expressions and gesture are solid handcraft well executed and make it very easy to connect to each and every character.
the mentioned musicbox scene as well as well as her birthscene were just heartbreakingly sweet… same goes for when she’s bringing the music box back to wendy. visually it’s on disneys high standarts, every shot is done with much love.
agree she has changed in some ways – i remembered her from Peter Pan – none the less I appreciated and enjoyed havin such a pure and lovely work delievered from them and hope the charming way this one was told carries on in the upcoming movies of her.
